Frankincense Essential Oil

Frankincense Essential Oil is unarguably the most valuable member of Young Living's Premium Starter kit. The peer-reviewed journals support that Frankincense is not only a potential anticancer compound, but is also therapeutic in a number of other ways. The research shows that not only are essential oils as relevant for health as they were in 3,000 BC, but their absence in modern medicine is nothing short of tragic. I use Frankincense for a myriad of health concerns, including but not limited to:
  • skin conditions
  • headaches
  • inflammation
  • immune support
  • aromatherapy
Frankincense (Boswellia carterii) includes the naturally occurring constituent boswellic acid, and has a woodsy, warm, balsamic aroma. Diffuse Frankincense during meditation for grounding and purpose. Applying this oil topically may help smooth the appearance of healthy-looking skin, and is excellent to use for massage after activity.

Whipped Body Butter: Excellent for firming, healing, and fading scars and dark spots
  1. 1 cup of softened shea butter (substitutes can be cocoa butter or mango butter)
  2. 1 cup of softened coconut oil
  3. 20 drops of Frankincense, 20 drops of Lavender, 20 drops of Geranium, 20 drops of Patchouli , 20 drops of Ylang Ylang (if you don't have them all, just add more of the oils you do have)
  4. 2 tbsp of arrowroot powder (this is optional, however it acts as a starch and reduces the oily feeling of the lotion)
  5. Whip together and store in a sealed container. Keeps for a year.

Facial Serum: wrinkles, stretch marks, dark spots, acne and scarring
  1. 4-6 drops of Jojoba Oil
  2. 2-3 drops of Frankincense Essential Oil
**additional oils can be effective in a facial serum blend: Lavender, Patchouli, Ylang Ylang, Geranium, and Vetiver

Headaches & Migraines:
  • 1 drop of Frankincense on the tip of thumb and pressed firmly against the roof of the mouth for 5-10 seconds.
  • 2-3 drops of Frankincense rubbed on the temples and across the forehead and at the base of the skull, repeat every 30 minutes.
**Alternate with Peppermint Essential Oil or M-grain Essential Oil blend.

Pain & Inflammation:
  • Dilute 1-2 drops of Frankincense with carrier oil and massage onto sore or injured muscles, tendons, ligaments, and bones. Repeat frequently.
  • Add an equal ratio of Frankincense to a pain blend of PanAway, Peppermint, and Copaiba. Dilute 1:1 with carrier oil (coconut oil, olive oil, vegetable oil, etc) and apply after exercise or injury.

* Healthy Cell and Immune Support:
  • Diffuse 6-8 drops of Frankincense essential oil for 30 minutes, twice a day
  • Place 3-4 drops of Frankincense essential oil into a size 00 veggie capsule and fill the remaining space with carrier oil, take with water twice a day
  • Apply Frankincense neat (without dilution) to areas of concern
  • Massage Therapy: bring your Frankincense essential oil to your next massage and ask that it be added to your massage oil.

Frankincense is a sacred oil and has been used for centuries in the healing rituals of humans. It is no less relevant or sacred in modern times, but far less available or pure in most cases. Read one of many peer-reviewed journals concluding Frankincense's potential for anticancer compounds by clicking here.
