An Essential Oiler's Travel Guide

Is anyone else gearing up for a road trip this holiday season?! My family is pretty spread out, so in order to get the quality time we so crave this time of year, we load up and hit the road in true Lampoon Family Vacation style. The only difference between the Griswolds and Lyros is a healthy stash of oily minions...
>Starting from the upper left corner, I've got my car diffuser or some DIY fragrance stones (y'all might remember some "other" things I've used in a pinch, but these two are my faves). Young Living's Orb USB diffuser is another awesome traveling companion; fits in cup holders, and doesn't spill.

>We'll be driving 13+ hours, straight through from Austin to Denver, so you best believe we'll be slathering on some En-R-Gee or Brain Power and diffusing Peppermint & Lemon to get us through. And we would NEVER travel without our Ningxia Nitro Cognitive Energy Shots. All the alertness we need without the jitters or sugar rush from those crazy Monster drinks.

>Gas station bathrooms. Thieves hand sanitizer or spray. That is all.

>Do you have a travel bag yet? There are some great oily bags on various etsy shops OR locate your favorite Thirty One distributor and snag up one of their small and oil-friendly inserts. I fill mine with some of the more versatile blends: Melrose, PanAway, DiGize, Joy and RC, as well as a dropper bottle of carrier oil and any pre-mixed roll-ons I use daily. Another anytime/anything favorite of mine is the Rose Ointment pictured in the middle. We use it for boo-boos, bites, blemishes, baby butts, chapped cheeks, lips, elbows, or anything generally mysterious looking.

>Christmas diffuser blends of choice include: Abundance, Christmas Spirit, and Believe.

>If you get car sick, please, for the love of GOD, pack the Peppermint. This is one you will want to hold to your nose and huff until the queasies pass. It's an anti-nausea powerhouse and your fellow passengers will thank you. Of course it helps with headaches, tension, and various aches and pains too, so never leaving home without some Pep in your step is great mantra to live by.

>Speaking of sick... (not saying you are, you will be, or you should even think of it... knock on wood!!), pack the dang Breathe Again Roll-On and Thieves Cough Drops. There is literally nothing worse than traveling with a cold or allergies and these two are a couple of my favorite symptom-smashing chart-toppers.

>Finally, let's not forget the true insanity that is traveling across country with 4 small children. For so many reasons, this is a masochistic ritual and Lonnie and I should probably seek counseling to explore the source of this blatant disregard for our own mental health and wellness, but until that happens, we'll be packing our own crazy-calming singles and blends. We've got Lavender, SleepyIze, Cedarwood, Vetiver, Stress Away Roll-On, Valor, and my beloved Tranquil Roll-On. All of these oils have one thing in common: ZEN. There's a pretty good chance that by the time we roll into my sister's drive, we'll smell like a Lavender harvest exploded in our vehicle, but it's a hell of a lot better than arriving after experiencing a mental explosion.

Other things I might consider cramming in the car?
  • Lavender-Scented Play-Dough
  • Einkorn Granola
  • Deep-Relief Roll-On for those neck cramps

I would love to hear your list of traveling must-haves too!!
