In my quest for cleaner living, I have slowly but surely replaced each of my toxic personal care products with simple, clean, and effective Do It Yourself versions. My essential oils continue to be my greatest asset while doing so! This is by far my favorite deodorant recipe. It's one that actually works, first and foremost, but it's also extremely simple and toxin-free... After an entire day of chasing my 3 kids around in the Texas heat and humidity, this deodorant holds its ground against my excessive sweating and hot-tempered personality :)
As always, I suggest that you use ONLY 100% Pure Therapeutic Grade Essential Oils and Organic ingredients as often possible. Prep Time: 10 minutes Serving Size: 2 deodorant sticks OR 2 4 oz mason jars Ingredients: 3 Tbsp Coconut Oil 1 Tbsp Beeswax Pellets 1/3 cup Arrowroot Powder (Cornstarch could substitute) 2 Tbsp Baking Soda 15 drops of Essential Oil: -- Some oily combinations include but are NOT limited to --
Directions: Melt coconut oil and beeswax pellets in a glass bowl or measuring cup using a double boiler (you may use a microwave, but you will need to stop regularly to stir the contents). Once melted into complete liquid form, add the remaining ingredients, stirring thoroughly. Pour the mixture into storage containers (deodorant stick OR mason jars work best) immediately, since the mixture will begin to harden quickly. Store at room temperature! See?! I told you guys. These recipes are almost always painfully simple :) To learn more about the essential oils I use, read about Young Living Essential Oils.
