There are several perks to owning a bottle of 100% Pure Therapeutic Grade Lemon Essential Oil, which is why this fella has a permanent place on my list of 11 Everyday Oils for Every Pantry. This 15 ml bottle contains the steam-distilled essential oil from the peelings of approximately 75 lemons. There are roughly 270 drops of essential oil per 15 ml bottle, so each drop packs a huge dietary, circulatory, and cleansing punch. With it's bright and fresh aroma, it's a staple in my morning routine and one of my favorite pre-workout energy boosts. I also love it in the diffuser throughout the day, especially when I'm feeling a little sluggish or down and out. It's very soothing to the sinuses and uplifting to the soul. Discover more ways I use my Lemon Essential Oil... Cleaning: Lemon oil is a natural cleaner. It is very effective at removing film, gum, permanent marker, sticky residue, temporary tattoos and is one of my favorite methods for cleaning and preserving produce. 100% Pure Therapeutic Grade Essential oils are safe when labeled as dietary supplements, so I feel good about using this effective method of cleaning to remove the exorbitant amount of pesticides from my fruit. Simply and gently scrub the outer surface of fruit with a drop of Lemon EO and your produce-only brush or sponge and rinse OR soak produce for 5 minutes in a bowl of filtered water with 8-10 drops of Lemon Essential Oil. ![]() Seasonal Irritant Relief: I use my lemon essential oil in conjunction with lavender, peppermint, and eucalyptus radiata for relief from seasonal allergy symptoms. When diffused, this oil has constituents that can be soothing and support the upper respiratory system. I often use the oil in a roll-on application (diluted with jojoba oil) and massage the blend onto my chest and over the bridge of my nose (being careful not to get any in my eyes). Beverage Enhancement: Because Young Living produces only 100% Pure Therapeutic Grade essential oils, guaranteed by their Seed to Seal commitment, I get to add a couple drops to my ice water throughout the day! It helps control my acid reflux, cleanses, and provides a daily dose of limonene, a powerful antioxidant. Because of the cleansing properties in citrus oils, you should only add the oil to a glass or metal vessel and avoid drinking from plastic bottles that may break down over time. The moment I feel that scratch in the back of my throat and the body aches creeping in, I make myself a cup of Thieves Tea. The recipe is simple and the soothing effects are instantaneous! Thieves Tea: 1 mug of hot water or tea 2-3 drops of Thieves essential oil blend (start with one until you've tasted it!) 2-3 drops of Lemon essential oil 1 tbsp of honey Stir frequently because the oils will rise to the top Acne & Oil Control: I have struggled with cystic acne for years! It's a very frustrating skin condition and often the products on the market are harmful, overpriced, and disappointing. I use lemon essential oil in my Zit Zapper blend and apply directly to my areas of concern. You should not expose your skin to direct sunlight for very long after applying citrus oils, because your skin will be photosensitive. This treatment is better performed at night before bed. Zit Zapper: 15ml amber glass bottle 50 drops Tea Tree (Melaleuca Alternifolia) 50 drops Purification Essential Oil blend 50 drops Lemon Essential Oil 40 drops Frankincense Essential Oil Directions: Apply ONE drop onto each pimple at night. Add a drop of carrier oil to any sensitive skin if irritation occurs. DIY Sugar Scrubs: Not only is it extremely simple, but super inexpensive to make your own high-quality sugar scrubs!! I love making my own beauty products with essential oils, especially when they are 100% organic and free of synthetic chemicals. Lemon oil makes a perfect sugar scrub for exfoliation. When combined with lavender, you will have a soothing and cleansing scrub using only 4 ingredients! Lemon Sugar Scrub Recipe: 1/2 cup of organic sugar (fine grain) 1/4 cup or less of coconut oil (fill to cover the sugar) 15 drops of Lemon Essential Oil 10 drops of Lavender Essential Oil Cooking with Essential Oils: I love the fact that I do not have to purchase citrus produce every time I want to add a citrus kick to my meals. Whether you're seasoning seafood or making a dressing for a light salad, you will be pleased to know that a single drop or two is usually plenty! Recently I made a batch of these delicious Lemon Cream Cheese Cookies. Lemon Cream Cheese Cookies: 2 oz cream cheese 6 tbsp softened butter 1/4 cup plus 1 tbsp powdered sugar 3/4 cup white sugar 1 egg 1/2 tsp vanilla 1/4 tsp salt 1/4 tsp baking powder 1/4 tsp baking soda 1 3/4 cup flour 15-18 drops of YL Lemon Essential Oil Directions: Heat the oven to 350 degrees. Cream the butter, cream cheese and sugars together until smooth. Add the essential oil drops, vanilla and eggs and mix again. In a separate bowl mix together all of the dry ingredients so they can become well incorporated into the dough. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix well. Scoop cookies onto a baking sheet and bake for 9-10 minutes, remove from the oven and dust with powdered sugar. The amount of oil that you use will determine how lemony the cookies are, but remember that the dough will be stronger than the baked cookies.
